Data Lineage

The traceable record of where data came from, how it was transformed, and where it flowed - the map that makes data auditable and trustworthy.

Data lineage is the documented path of data through its lifecycle: its origin, every transformation it passed through, and every destination it reached. It lets teams answer where a value came from, what a change would affect downstream, and whether a given output can be trusted - the backbone of data quality, debugging, and audit.

As AI consumes data across systems, lineage extends to the AI boundary: which records fed a prompt, which policy governed the access, and what the model did with them. When enforcement records every governed read and decision as it happens, that lineage is produced as evidence rather than reconstructed later - so the trail from a source record to an AI action stays intact.
