Data Residency & Sovereignty

Requirements that data be stored and processed within a specific jurisdiction, and remain subject to that jurisdiction's laws - central to GDPR and public-sector rules.

Data residency is the requirement that data physically live in a particular country or region; data sovereignty is the broader principle that data is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction it sits in. Regulations like GDPR and many public-sector mandates make both non-negotiable for regulated workloads.

Deploying in-perimeter - in a private-cloud region you choose, or fully air-gapped - keeps governed data and its audit evidence inside your jurisdiction by construction, rather than trusting a vendor's cross-border cloud to honor residency after the fact.
